Model-turned-actor Lee Eon (also spelled Lee Un, most famously of Coffee Prince) has died in a motorcycle accident.

The 27-year-old, born Park Sang-min, was on his way home following the wrap party for KBS’s Strongest Chil Woo early on the morning of August 21. He was riding a motorcycle and ran into the guardrail of the overpass, and is said to have died almost immediately.

The news has shocked everyone; online, netizens are abuzz in disbelief. Just the night before, he had been onscreen in Chil Woo’s finale episode, and the sudden news is, to say the least, startling.

Lee Eon got his start modeling, but shot to mainstream levels of fame when he took on the role of simple-hearted but lovable Min Yub in last year’s Coffee Prince. He followed that with a stint as a cable-TV MC, then returned to dramas with Who Are You? and, most recently, Strongest Chil Woo.

Lee Eon had attended the post-wrap party for his drama “Strongest Chilwoo” which ended early this morning and was already back home. But he was out again soon to the club where he worked as a DJ on his motorbike when the unfortunate happened. He lost control of his motorbike and rammed into the guardrail of an overpass. It was later announced that he had broken his neck on impact and died instantly. (could he be intoxicated?)

Lee Eon’s management expressed, “He doesn’t ride a motorbike normally. And he doesn’t drink either. During the first gathering, he didn’t drink at all. But I am not sure for the second gathering.” Lee Eon’s parents are now in Seoul handing his funeral and they are pretty devastated by this as he’s their only child. “Because of work, he isn’t by his parents side often. And thus I can understand how devastated they must be at losing their only child from this.”

Lee Eon’s last role was as an assassin in “Strongest Chilwoo” which just ended two days ago and it’s still quite unbelievable to many who are just learning of the truth right now. His most memorable role must be the one last year in “Coffee Shop 1st Prince” which made him more known to the world.

Lee Eon (이언), whose real name is Park Sang Min (박상민), was born on February 5, 1981 and died August 21, 2008. He was 28 years old (Korean age). He was a model, an actor and a DJ. He debuted in the 2006 film “Like a Virgin” (천하장사 마돈나). He was also an achiever in Korean traditional wrestling.

carrying his tablet during the funeral.
Eon departed from this world at
the young age of 27 years old..... funeral was carried out at dawn,
with the company of grieving surviving family members and good friends

was sobbing when sending Eon off during this last journey. Eon's mom
had to be supported by relatives to attend the ceremony. Eon's dad was
suppressing his sorrows and staying quietly beside his beloved son.
After the cremation, Eon's remains will be buried in his hometown - Busan.

At around 4am on 23rd August, Gong Yoo was at the funeral hall in Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital in Hannam-dong, Seoul to attend the funeral service. While pall bearers carried the casket to the hearse, Gong Yoo was holding Eon’s tablet. This showed the deep friendship between them. He rushed to the funeral hall eventhough he is an active soldier, many felt his pain and sorrow.

Lee Eon, a model-turned-actor who starred in the popular MBC drama ``Coffee Prince,'' died in a motorcycle accident at dawn Thursday, Yonhap News reported.

Lee, whose real name is Park Sang-min, was on his way home after attending a party celebrating the end of his KBS drama ``Choi Kang Chil-woo'' (Mighty Chil-woo). He was riding his motorcycle when he hit a railing of the elevated roadway in Hannam-dong, Yongsan at around 2 a.m.

The 27-year old actor died on the spot and was taken to Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Hannam-dong, Seoul. The police have not yet determined if Lee was drunk when he got into the motorcycle accident.

Lee gained fame last year for his role as a dim-witted but loveable Min-yeop in ``Coffee Prince.''

When he was in elementary school, Lee started participating in ssireum or traditional Korean wrestling. He proved to be an excellent athlete and won gold medals at Korean national ssireum competitions in 1997 and 1998.

However, as a freshman in university, Lee saw model Cha Seung-won on TV and decided to become a model. He worked hard to lose 30 kilos in order to gain the slim physique of a model. He made his debut in a fashion show in Busan in 1999.

With his good looks, Lee soon became a sought-after model, appearing in numerous fashion shows, including the Seoul Fashion Artists Association Collection. He also branched out into acting in dramas, which led to his role in ``Coffee Prince.''

Popular actor and fashion model Eon (27, real name Park Sang-min) died early Thursday morning from a motorcycle accident.

According to police reports, Eon attended a party to celebrate the final episode of KBS 2TV's drama series "Chilwu, the Mighty" after midnight on August 21 and got into an accident while on his way home.

At the time of the accident, the late actor's management agency said the details of the accident have yet to be confirmed and that his parents were on their way to Seoul from Busan.

A funeral hall has been set up at the Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital in Hannam-dong, Seoul.

Eon co-starred in the recently concluded drama series "Chilwu, the Mighty" as one of the assissins led by Chilwu, played by Eric.
